A Status Orange wind warning has been issued for the entire county of Donegal from 4pm this afternoon, according to Met Eireann.
The alert will remain in place until 7pm this evening, with gusts of up to 130 km/hr to be expected.
A status yellow wind warning is in place for Leitrim and Sligo until 8pm tonight, with Galway and Mayo under the same warning until 6pm.
Several schools in the north of Ireland were forced to close and commuters faced a lot of disruption as a blanket of snow covered counties overnight.
Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry and Antrim were all hit by severe wintry conditions, with public transport disrupted early this morning.

Bus serviced in Dungannon, Co Tyrone were suspended entirely due to the heavy conditions.
A yellow snow warning has been put in place in the north, and will remain in place until 9am tomorrow.
The UK Met Office also warned of potential risks of lightning, with Translink tweeting: “Due to poor weather conditions please allow for delays/adjustments to journeys in your area this morning.”
TrafficWatch NI has also warned motorists of “difficult driving conditions” as salting and ploughing works were undertaken across the roads network early today.
“Additional salting being carried out throughout the province this morning – road users are advised to slow down and allow extra time for their journeys,” the roads information service tweeted.
These weather warnings come as Ireland has been hit with a number of storms over the last week, with Storm Gladys now hitting the island.
