The infant has since been reunited with her family.

Gardaí launched an investigation last week after a baby was found in a pram in a cemetery in Co. Kerry.

The infant, who was discovered alone in a pram in Rath cemetery, Tralee on Thursday, was believed to have been alone for several hours.

The Irish Times reports that family members had attended a gathering in the cemetery that day. It is believed that the baby, who is said to be three months old, was left in area once the gathering ended.

“A baby was located in a pram and at this time investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson told the publication.

The Irish Examiner has since reported that Tusla, the child and family agency, sought a temporary order to take the baby into its care following the incident. This order was denied by a judge.

A Killarney solicitor told the publication that the child’s mother had been feeling unwell at the cemetery and placed the baby in the care of a relative.

The infant, who was brought to University Hospital Kerry for a checkup, is said to be doing well.
