Body of woman discovered at Dublin bathing spot

The body of a woman has been discovered near South Bull Wall, Ringsend.

Gardaí attended the scene at Great South Wall, Dublin yesterday morning following reports that clothing had been spotted near the bathing area.

The Mirror reports that members of the RNLI Dún Laoghaire Lifeboat Station later discovered the body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s, in the water.

A Garda spokesman told the publication: “Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident Great South Wall in Ringsend, Co.Dublin yesterday morning, 11th August 2021.

“The body of a woman aged in her 40s was removed from the water by the Coastguard.

“The body has since been removed to Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date.”

A spokesperson for Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard said: “Dublin Coast Guard received a call from a member of the public regarding clothing located at Half Moon bathing area on South Bull Wall.

“A Coast Guard team responded to investigate. Upon arrival, a search began immediately having received new information from members of An Garda Síochána on scene.

“RNLI Dun Laoghaire Lifeboat Station ILB arrived on scene to assist with the search.”
