That entrance, though.
Brett is in the Love Island villa now.
He’s a PHD student, he’s 27, and he had probably the most bizarre entrance of all time.
Lounging on a sun bed eagerly awaiting the islander’s return from their challenge (the worst challenge of all time, let me just say), Brett was perched out by the pool akin to a Roman statue, ready and waiting for his prey.

Unfortunately for him, the arrival of the group didn’t go quite as producers had apparently planned, as none of the islanders went straight to the garden and only Chloe and Priya went up to the terrace.
Clearly told to utter a noise of some sort, Brett emitted a vague cough, one that absolutely would not have been loud enough to alert the girls on the roof, but somehow did.

“Oh my god,” they shout in unison, as Brett gazes up adoringly at them before giving a smouldering: “Well come and say hello then.” Or something, I can’t really remember what was said.
His entrance was, naturally bizarre, and completely unnecessary given the format of the show. But sure look, he’s here now so we may as well learn a bit about him.

Brett Staniland
Age: 27
Job: PHD student and model
From: Derbyshire

Brett is a twin, he’s studying for his PHD in exercise and health and despite being 27, he’s never been in a serious relationship.
He said he felt like now was the right time to enter the villa and finally look for some love.
“I’ve never had a serious relationship and the last 18 months has been really stagnant in terms of meeting new people and dating,” he said. “Lots of my friends have settled down, had kids. I’m kind of the one that’s left back from all of that. Now is the right time.”
His celebrity crush in JLO, and he’s looking forward to getting to know Millie, Kaz, and Mary. Good luck, sir.
“They all seem like really lovely people. I’d go and ask the question for sure. I want to know where their heads are at,” he said.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
