Viewers were not happy.
Love Island has been back for a week now, but the show’s use of cliffhangers is already turning fans off.
Last night’s episode saw the aftermath of Friday night’s recoupling, and Rachel’s arrival in the villa. Before the weekend even started we learned that the fate of Brad and Chuggs laid in the hands of newcomer Rachel, and that in 24 hours she would have to pick one boy to couple up with. The other would be sent packing.
Except, it didn’t quite pan out like that. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, and we didn’t get to hear Rachel’s selection. Now we’ll have to wait until tonight to see who’s staying or who’s going.
Needless to say, fans were frustrated with the cliffhanger ending, which wasn’t even the first of the season.
Viewers took to Twitter to vent.
“I sat through millions of ads just for it to end in cliffhanger!” one fan wrote.
Another said: “I’m in two minds to complain to ofcom for love island WASTING MY TIME.”
A third person wrote: “Right, I’m off to lodge a complaint with Ofcom for that ending, ITV.”
Fans weren’t the only people frustrated, Love Island alum Amber Gill was just as unhappy as the rest of us.
Honestly if it cuts off right before Rachel says the name I will scream… again. #LoveIsland

Another fan made the astute observation that the producers don’t need to end the episodes in cliffhangers – we’re all going to tune in the next day anyway.
“Do these producers know they don’t have to keep giving us cliffhangers because I’m so far up love islands ass I’ll be back tomorrow regardless,” they wrote.
Another viewer pointed out that by this stage, we shouldn’t be too surprised by these shenanigans.
When I know #loveisland ends on a cliffhanger every re-coupling, but I am also still surprised every time it happens pic.twitter.com/vwBWYnf84j
