8 hilarious Love Island moments that live in my head rent-free

Sarah McKenna Barry

TV at its best.

As we gear up for this year’s Love Island, we thought it would be a good time to take a look back at some of our favourite moments from the series so far.

Here are 8 moments from the series that will forever live in my head rent-free.

1. Maura’s fanny flutters

We really owe Love Island a debt of gratitude for launching Maura Higgins’ career. When the Longford lady jumped onto our screens and introduced the world to “fanny flutters” she firmly cemented her place in our hearts.

2. The islanders’ Brexit roundtable

For some reason, Georgia thought it would be a nice idea for the ladies to chat about Brexit’s effect on “welfare and things we trade with”. Thankfully, viewers were quickly reassured that Brexit wouldn’t have an impact on trees, because – as Georgia astutely pointed out – that’s weather.

Credit where credit’s due, though, they were right about it being harder to go on holidays.

3. Marcel not wanting to talk about Blazin’ Squad and then talking about it at any chance he got

Did you know that Marcel was in Blazin’ Squad when he was younger? Yeah, he mentioned it a time or twenty. Kind of iconic if you ask me.

4. Samira’s flirting

It’s no secret that Samira was dire at flirting. From asking guys about their co-ords to calling them Babyface, she really was a relatable queen. Special shout-out to the world’s best pick-up line: “What’s your favourite floor material?”

5. Curtis choosing coffee over cuddles

Look. He was right. Someone does have to be the person who gets up and makes everyone a coffee so everyone’s ready for the morning.

6. Chris asking if anyone wants to hear him rap to lift the mood

When tensions reached boiling point in the villa, Chris jumped into action and offered to rap in order to cheer everyone up. He was, shockingly, rebuffed.

@chrishughesofficialDo you want me to rap anyone, lift the mood a bit? ##LoveIsland

7. Jamie and Alex’s duet

For the Love Island 2017 talent show, Jamie wowed us all with his smooth acoustic stylings, while Alex… performed a lap dance? Kem hit the nail on the head here with his commentary: “Obviously, Jamie is a very good singer. Not really understanding what Alex’s part in it was.”

Us too, Kem. Us too.

8. The men discuss the intricacies of feminism

Ched boldly decided to lead the lads in an important discussion on feminism, and it ended up with Finn proudly declaring that yes, he is indeed a “femininist”.

Such a win for equality.
