The company made a statement on social media today.
Fallon & Byrne has announced that from today, January 2, its Rathmines location will no longer be in operation.
The retailer made a statement on social media this morning stating that while it was a hard decision, it was one it had to make.
However, the company reassured customers that its Exchequer Street and People’s Park branches will remain open.
The message said:
“Fallon and Byrne regrets to announce the closure of its Rathmines outlet from January 2, 2020.
“Unfortunately, the location was loss-making and, while the decision was a very difficult one, we believe that acting decisively is what’s best for the business overall.
“Our Exchequer Street and People’s Park locations, both of which have a history of trading profitably, will not be affected by the Rathmines closure.
“The company recently signed a 25-year lease on its flagship Exchequer Street building and the management team will be refocusing on this.
“Sincere thanks to our outstanding team, suppliers and customers for their ongoing support.”
Many fans of the location commented that they were sad to see it go and shocked that the decision had to be made.
