Netflix users ‘terrified’ by the trailer for the new horror film Eli

Keeley Ryan

Social media users have said they have been left ‘terrified’  after seeing the trailer for the streaming service’s new horror film, Eli.

ELI is the story of a young boy (Charlie Shotwell) plagued with an unknown, debilitating illness that requires him to live completely sealed off from the outside world.

After exhausting every option, his parents (Kelly Reilly and Max Martini) put their trust – and his life – in the hands of a doctor (Lili Taylor) whose experimental, cutting edge treatments at her clean house facility may hold Eli’s last hope.

As Eli undergoes the tremendously intense process that could potentially cure him, he begins to be haunted by experiences that make him question who he can trust and what is lurking inside the house.

And Netflix users have been left terrified ever since the trailer dropped earlier this week – with some even saying the footage scared them so much they have been “sleeping with the lights on”.

One person said [via The Sun]:

“Nice! Been saving too much energy lately by keeping the lights off at night, this should definitely help reverse that.”

Someone else added:

“Well, that’s me sleeping with a night light from now on. Thanks Netflix, consider my fear of the dark officially reactivated.”

Eli lands on Netflix on October 18, but in the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.

If you’re looking for more information on what’s going to be coming to Netflix in the coming weeks, you can find the list of everything arriving in October here.

The streaming service recently announced they were going to be releasing a whole slew of horror movies next month, for the month that’s in it.

Some of next month’s most highly anticipated Netflix additions include Paul Rudd and Aisling Bea’s Living With Yourself and Meryl Streep’s The Laundromat.
