It’s official: autumn is finally here.
And as the days and nights are getting colder and colder, the temptation to stay in with a mug of hot chocolate and watch the latest TV series’ is seriously real.
Thankfully, Netflix are coming to the rescue with a number of binge-worthy series’ over the next few months – including Cursed, the re-imaging of the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake.
Based on the upcoming book of the same name, Cursed is told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.
After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
In September 2018. it was announced that 13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford would be taking up the role of Nimue – and a few months alter, Netflix shared the first look at her in the role.

Netflix confirmed the rest of the cast earlier this year, as they announced Daniel Sharman, Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgård, Lily Newmark, Peter Mullan, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Sebastian Armesto, Emily Coates, Catherine Walker & Billy Jenkins would all be joining Cursed.
Zetna Fuentes (Ray Donovan, Jessica Jones, The Deuce, Shameless) will direct and serve as an executive producer on the first two episodes.
The series is created and executive produced by Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) and Tom Wheeler (Puss in Boots, The Cape) who is also showrunner and writer.
Tom Wheeler will write the companion book Cursed, which Frank Miller will illustrate to be published by Simon & Schuster in Fall 2019.
Alex Boden (Sense8, Cloud Atlas) is producer and Silenn Thomas is co-executive producer.
- Cursed will debut on Netflix in 2020. An official premiere date has not yet been announced.
