Such a special gift.
If you keep up with the royal family and their various comings and goings, you might be aware of the fact that Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with Princess Diana’s engagement ring.
It features a 12-carat sapphire and is surrounded by 14 diamonds and yeah, that’s a lot of sparkle. Apart from all that though, the fact that it comes from William’s mother is priceless.
The stunning ring is instantly recognisable and the Duchess of Cambridge rarely removes the very special piece of jewellery.
What we didn’t know though is that a few years later, William gave his wife an equally special gift, stunning sapphire earrings that previously belonged to his mum.

According to The Daily Mail, these earrings were part of a set that also included a watch and a bracelet and both Diana and Kate adapted them to suit their own personal tastes.
The original earrings included sapphire drops and apparently, Diana had them customised so she could wear them as studs surrounded by diamonds while Kate later had them made into drop earrings.

Duchess Kate was spotted wearing them in 2011, not long after she and William married in April of that year so perhaps they were a wedding present?
A very special one if so.
It’s believed that Diana left all her jewellery to her sons and as you may be aware, the two smaller diamonds on either side of the larger diamond that features in Meghan Markle’s engagement came from Diana’s personal jewellery collection.

Harry said that this was because he wanted his mum to join him and Meghan on the “crazy journey” they had embarked on and now we’re just a little bit teary-eyed.
