Hard luck ladies.
It has been an amazing tournament for the girls in green!
This afternoon, the amazing Irish hockey team strutted into the World Cup FINAL for the first time ever.
Sadly, the girls were defeated by an incredibley impressive side from The Netherlands.
The defeat was pretty hard to swallow, with a 0-6 loss, but these Irish women have so much to be proud of.
Ireland were ranked just 16th in world prior to the tournament, and now stand as the second best team in the world.
No too shabby.
What they’ve also done is put women’s hockey (and sport in general) on the map in Ireland.
We are a country of some greats porting legends, but rarely do we shine a light on the incredible female talent this Island has to offer.
As Irish sporting stars go, this Irish hockey team are all heroes in my eyes, and the eyes of the country!
I couldn’t be prouder of our gals today!
