‘Gen Z Yellow’ is the hipster af colour you’ll be seeing everywhere this spring

Jade Hayden

Yellow is a nice colour.

You can wear it with lots of things – black clothes, a tan, other yellow clothes.

See? Loads.

That being said, not too many of us are set on wearing a lot of yellow for whatever reason.

It may not be as safe as say, black or navy or white – and it’s very, very possible to get entirely wrong and end up looking like a giant lemon – but sure look, if yellow is #in then who are we to judge?

And it is in too. Very in. As in as millennial pink once was.

In fact, yellow is now so in that’s overtaken millennial pink as the colour that everybody’s going to be wearing… and it’s got its also iconic name too – Gen Z yellow.

Yeah, doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue but sure look.

Gen Z yellow isn’t just yellow though – it’s a kind of pastel, kind of muted, kind of faded lemon yellow colour.

Essentially, it’s the hipster version of yellow and we are here for it.

Think the Zara suit that Emily Ratajkowski wore when she was getting married, or the bright yellow pants and top combo Blake Lively had on a few months back, or the stunning summer dress Selena Gomez wore last year when she wasn’t surprised, just sympathised.

One may view the above looks and think – that’s just yellow.

But Gen Z yellow is more than just the colour yellow, it’s a state of mind.

It’s pastel, it’s hipster af, and it’s going to be The Next Big Thing to make you drain your bank accounts for something that’s apparently the next new #trend.

And we can’t wait.
