An investigation is underway following the discovery of a man’s body in Cork

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man, after his body was found in Cobh.

A body of a man was discovered in the stairwell of an apartment block in Harbour Hill, in Cobh, Co Cork yesterday evening at approximately 5pm.

Initial reports suggested the man was in his 20s but it’s now being reported that he was in his 40s.

According to RTÉ, emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised but he was pronounced dead later that evening.

Speaking about the investigation, The Gardaí have said:

“The body of the deceased was inspected at scene by Dr Bolster, Office of the State Pathologist and has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out on Wednesday morning. The scene remains preserved for technical examination. The course of the examination will be determined by the results of the evening.”

An investigation is now underway and the scene has been preserved for further analysis.
