Two Irish women seriously injured in accident in France

The accident took place in Northern France.

Two women from Ireland have been seriously injured in a collision in France.

The pair were travelling in a party of eight near Beaumont-en-Auge, northern France when the collision took place, reports RTÉ.

One of the women was airlifted to hospital in the city of Caen in a critical condition, while the other woman, an 18-year-old, was also in a critical condition.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was providing consular assistance to the family.
