Kittens have been discovered before under car bonnets, especially if the weather is cold, but we’re pretty sure few have made an epic journey like Lucky.
Co. Down man Andrew Bell had been visiting his girlfriend in Galway, but didn’t make the discovery of the kitten until he returned home, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The kitten had been hanging around his girlfriend’s house in Galway quite a bit, especially after her cat had given birth to a litter of kittens. Lucky had hid in his engine once before on a shorter trip.

Andrew returned to Belfast after visiting his girlfriend. It wasn’t until he got out of the car that he could hear the kitten purring: “On Monday morning I was driving back up to Belfast, stopped off in Dublin for fuel, and it didn’t jump out there. Then when I got up to the house I started hearing it purring outside the car.”
“I opened the bonnet and there it was sleeping behind the battery,” Andrew said. “We have called it Lucky. I thought it was appropriate.”
Thankfully, Lucky didn’t seem to be harmed by the ordeal and is now staying with a friend of Andrew’s.
Lucky by name…
