Amanda Bynes period in a psychiatric hospital has been extended by a US judge. The actress could face up to a year in a facility if a judge deems it necessary.

According to TMZ, the request was made by doctors at the hospital who asked for a longer hold for the actress. The doctors then transferred Amanda into her mother’s care as her temporary conservator.

Although she can be held for a lengthy period, it is understood that Bynes will be held for another 60 days and then transferred to her mother’s home.

Bynes family have also issued a statement debunking reports that the star had been moved from one mental health facility to another.

The Bynes’ attorney commented: “The photographs of a woman in a blue wig exiting Hillmont for UCLA Medical Center two weeks ago were not of Amanda Bynes. Amanda’s family continues to be devoted to their daughter’s well being.”

Amanda was initially committed to the health facility in July when she apparently attempted to start a small fire.

Her period in the facility was extended in August and the legal and financial affairs of her estate temporarily transferred to her mother.
