Joss Whedon’s spin-off series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will have its UK premiere on Channel 4 this year after beating Sky in an intense bidding war.
The superhero series, is spawning from the hit film Avengers Assemble, and will be on TV this autumn. The show will air in the US first on September 24th with the UK following suit shortly after.
The sci-fi show is directed, produced and co-written by Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon.
“Like the superhero universe from which it has come, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is big, bold and absolutely exhilarating,” said Channel 4 chief creative officer, Jay Hunt.
“Featuring the production values you’d expect from Marvel and ABC Studios, this is family entertainment at its most exciting.”
S.H.I.E.L.D will be the first live-action series to be produced by Marvel, that’s in conjunction with ABC Studios and Mutant Enemy, which is Joss’ own production company.

The story will focus on a team of secret agents tasked with looking at the growing amount of superhumans.
The agents work for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D) and are led by Agent Phil Coulson who is played by Clark Gregg.
Other actors include Brett Dalton (Blue Bloods, Army Wives) and Ming-Na Wen (ER).
