Welcome to The Bride Files – covering all things related to weddings as Laura prepares for her big day.
When I got engaged I knew a few things would happen. My organisational skills would step up a notch and the planner in me would come out in full force. I also expected that I would spend hours looking through Pinterest boards and online forums for ideas and trends.
All of this I could have told you would happen.
The one thing I did not expect, though, was that I would become a hoarder.
Yes, there I said it. I am a hoarder.
I will hoard ANYTHING wedding related. Even if, at first, it doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to fit into a wedding plan I can find something for it.
I’m talking jars, boxes, containers, baskets, candles and material. Anything worth keeping and I’ll try and save it.
I’m like a meerkat in the office whenever someone is throwing out a box or basket. At this stage, my colleagues know to check with me before they bin anything. As we speak there is a pile of boxes in the corner of the Her office which have been left for me.
The only reason I can’t take them home is because my apartment cannot take any more hoarded goods.
I’m not going crazy cat lady level, just yet, but I’m certainly not passing up any opportunities to use random items for my wedding.
I like the idea of some DIY wedding features as it’s a great way to get creative and put your own personal touch on the day.
The boxes that would be thrown out by someone else will be lined with material and used in the bathrooms of the venue. The jars can be used for centerpieces. The possibilities are endless.
Now, all I have to do is find the time to turn all my loot into usable wedding goods.
