Award-winning actress Karen Black has died at the age of 74.
The actress, who starred in more than 100 movies was most famous for appearing in film classics like Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces.
Black’s husband, Stephen Eckelberry, said that the actress died this week from complications relating to her battle with cancer.
“It is with great sadness that I have to report that my wife and best friend, Karen Black has just passed away, only a few minutes ago” he wrote on his Facebook page.
“Thank you all for all your prayers and love, they meant so much to her as they did to me.”
Her husband wrote on her blog that Black had become “bed-bound: the spreading cancer having eaten away part of a vertebra and nerves in her lower back. Her left leg stopped functioning.“

The actress who was well known for her big wavy hair and lips, frequently performed as characters who were often troubled or quite quirky.
Her performance in Five Easy Pieces alongside Jack Nicholson, won Black an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe in the 1970s.
She is survived by her husband, son and daughter.
