Here are some bridal accessories you might have overlooked

Laura Holland

Welcome to The Bride Files – covering all things related to weddings as Laura prepares for her big day.

There are certain items on the top of a bride’s list, like the dress, veil or hair accessories, jewellery, nail art, shoes and probably a shawl or cardigan depending on the season.

But there are others accessories that sometimes get overlooked. They’re not always essential to the day but will certainly add to it.

Umbrellas

Whether we like it or not we have to plan for rain on a wedding day. It goes with the territory of living in Ireland. Even if it doesn’t rain, an umbrella on the day will come in handy for photographs and will also protect you from the sun.

The Lovely Little Label has a gorgeous selection of umbrellas, including heart-shaped umbrellas.

You can also match the colour of the umbrellas to your bridesmaid dresses.

Shoe Decal

Another accessory you might not have thought of are shoe decals. You can get little jewelled messages for under your shoe which adds a little extra something to the sole.

A lot of online companies do them, like MyWeddingStore.ie.

Clutch bag

A bag seems like a normal enough accessory but you’d be surprised at how many brides forget to plan a bag for their big day and end up having to stash their make-up and bits somewhere. You don’t want anything too big or obvious so a nice small clutch bag would suit.

This pearl bag from Pearl and Lace is gorgeous and it’s only €55 so well worth it.

Garter

One of the most traditional pieces a bride can wear is a garter. There are lots of different types available but they can vary in price so choose wisely. A lot of lingerie stores have them or you can also pick them up in department stores like Debenhams.

This simple white one from Change Lingerie, in Swords, is beautiful.

You can also get more intricate designs, like this one from The Lovely Little Label:
