This is why you might not want to take Silica supplements before your wedding

Laura Holland

Welcome to The Bride Files – covering all things related to weddings as Laura prepares for her big day.

I’ve always had mid to long hair but because I get highlights regularly it never has the best quality. My main aim in the run up to the wedding is to look after it and hopefully make it grow. I’ve been using special shampoo from the hairdressers, cutting down on blow drying and using masks once a week.

I started my new hair routine over six months ago and I haven’t seen a huge difference. My hairdresser said it’s thicker but I’m looking for it to grow faster and that’s not happening.

With that in mind, I decided to seek alternative help in the form of supplements. I spoke with a few people and the general consensus was to try Silica tablets.

Off I went and bought a gigantic batch of Silica tablets. I was all set to try them out until one of my friends gave me some very good yet scary advice.

Her exact words were, “your hair will grow, but it will grow everywhere.”

She said that when she tried the tablets in the run up to her wedding she got a lot hairier. We’re talking extra leg hair, underarm hair and it even grew in places she never thought she could produce so much hair.

She described it as “fluff” saying that she had a light layer of the fluff everywhere, particularly on her face and arms. Everywhere that you spend time removing hair, that’s where there was extra hair.

Naturally, this has put me right off. The last thing I want to look like walking up the aisle is a yeti.

So, I’m going to turn my attention to something like Nioxin shampoo which is said to be very good for your hair with no extra fluff.

I’ll let you know how I get on.
