Country singer Garth Brooks has become a grandfather for the first time.
His daughter, August Brooks, 19, gave birth to baby daughter called Karalynn, during the week and the singer issued a statement on Friday announcing the fantastic news.
The 51-year-old country legend said he would like to thank everyone “for their warm wishes and sweet celebration of Baby K’s arrival”.
The country crooner has been in semi-retirement from music as he raises his daughters in Oklahoma.
He said that he may make a full-time return to music when his youngest daughter Allie, 16, graduates from high school.
“Our children’s lives have always been extremely private and they have been endlessly encouraged to be their own people” said Brooks in his statement.
“We have always wanted them to be individuals and NOT be known as ‘someones daughters.’ I have been amazed and grateful how the press has always respected this.”
Brooks asked the public for privacy as “this young family begins the greatest days of their lives”.
