Her

Healthy skin is a combination of both good products, eating the right foods and most importantly, knowing what is best for your skin type.

In the last of a five-part series this week, here are our top tips for combating maturing skin.

Foods That Benefits Maturing & Aging Skin.

Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries all have powerful antioxidant properties, which are so helpful in strengthening and protecting your skin.

Kale and spinach fill your system with antioxidants, fibre and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Broccoli is great for strengthening the skin’s immunity and helps the prevention of sun damage.

Cleansing & Moisturising

When you increase hydration to the skin, you camouflage fine lines and protect it. Invest in a good, thick moisturiser to keep your skin looking supple and youthful.

Using a cleanser cream, or lotion that contains such antioxidants as vitamin C, green tea extract or ferulic acid can make your skin healthier

Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week with a facial wash, scrub or peel that contains glycolic or lactic acid which removes dead cells from the skin’s surface and allows new ones to emerge.

Homemade Treatments

Exfoliating the skin is one of the most important beauty treatments for all skin types. This brown sugar scrub is particularly effective at removing dead cells, dirt, sebum and pore impurities. Brown sugar is one of the mildest natural exfoliaters.

Simply mix together 3 teaspoons of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of honey in a bowl.

Apply the paste all over the face and using gentle circular motions to scrub.

Wait for the scrub to dry for approx 15 minutes and wash off with cold water. Always pat the face dry.

MakeUp

Don’t over do it on the foundation, excess product exaggerates lines and wrinkles, as it lies caked. Choose a lightweight liquid foundation over a powder base is better for smooth and flawless looking skin.

Avoid shiny eye shadow now. Just like foundation, shimmer eye shadow can set in to the crevices around the eye. Matte eye shadow works much better.

Camoflauge those dark circles with concealer. Always choose one shade lighter than your skin tone for better coverage. The skin under the eyes is thin and delicate so only a small amount is necessary.

Other Tips

Invest in a rich night cream.

Aging skin needs lots of beauty sleep so make sure you get it!
