So weird.
The Simpsons has predicted a few things in the past but nothing as scary as Trump becoming the President of America. Back in 2000, they created an episode which saw Lisa take over from Trump after he ran the country into the ground.
In the episode Lisa says,”We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump,” while discussing their situation.
The creator of the show Matt Groening told The Guardian they chose Trump because he was the most absurd. He said:
“We predicted that he would be president back in 2000 – but [Trump] was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.’
While the writer, Dan Greaney, said it was ‘a warning’. He told The Hollywood Reporter:
“It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.”
