Michael Douglas confirmed the sad news.
While we may recognise Val Kilmer best from his roles in Top Gun and Batman, the 56-year-old actor is said to be suffering from oral cancer.
Following reports that the actor was bleeding from the throat in January 2015 and doctors found his tumour in October 2015, Val never talked about his medical condition.
Friend to the actor and former co-star Michael Douglas was recently at a Q&A in London where he talked about 1996 film The Ghost and the Darkness.
According to Variety, the film also starred Val which prompted Michael to clarify his friend’s current health.
“Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him.”
“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”
Fans took to Twitter to wish the actor a quick recovery.
