An App Making a Difference: New Website Widget Helps Support Charities Across the World

An innovative way to support charities you care about

Una Kavanagh

“Enough Slacktivism. Do something that matters.” Say hello to the Adtruism app, a brand new website widget aimed at supporting worthy causes.

Run by volunteer Irish students in Trinity and UCD, this neat widget when installed onto your website, displays commercial ads and then the good folks at Adtruism transfers 100 percent of the advertising revenue across to your chosen charity.

But how did it all come together? Its founder and student Brian McCormick put together a demo site back in May 2012 and received a very positive response from the online community.

And so Adtruism was born! Developing the website and software in his spare time while studying law at UCD, he delayed launching the platform until he had completed his final exams. Now that’s dedication!

Adtruism is a non-profit social-tech start up, and currently supports charitable organisations including the Make a Wish Foundation, UNICEF, and Doctors without Borders.

You can find out more about this innovative new project by visiting their website here. We wish them the best of luck.
