Veteran BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been jailed for 15 months after he admitted to indecent assault.

The 83-year-old admitted to 14 offences that occurred between the years of 1967 and 1985. His youngest victim was aged just nine, BBC News reports.

Hall’s barrister Crispin Aylett told the court the former broadcaster had “all of 13” victims, compared to Jimmy Savile’s 1,300.

Hall’s first victim was 16 at the time of the assault. She met Hall when he presented her with an award at a school prize-giving.

The broadcaster admitted to being guilty of the charges in April of this year.

The court heard he invited the girl to record some songs at the BBC studio, before buying her a drink in a pub and sexually assaulting her in his car.

The victim told her parents of the assault and her “furious father” went to find Hall. He was nowhere to be found and the family decided not to report the matter.

Hall initially denied any wrongdoing, before finally admitting his guilt in April.

The BBC also reports that one count of rape will lie on the court file.
