We wouldn’t have guessed these!
When it comes to go-to holiday areas we would assume the likes of Barcelona, New York and Paris would be in the top five.
However, Google recently announced the five most searched for cities and none of the usual suspects made the list.
Reykjavik in Iceland came out on top and was searched for mostly by women between 25 and 34. While Reyjavik was one of the less common travel destinations for years, it is not hard to see why it has become more popular. The beautiful capital is full of culture, museums and stunning landscapes.
The second most searched for destination was Havana in Cuba. The majority of people looking at this area were men between aged 35 to 44.
Toronto, Mexico and Tokyo were 3rd, 4th and 5th most popular destinations for travel fans on google.
Google shared this information in an infographic along with other data.

However, this sample was from Google searches within the US and so Irish searches probably differ. However, we were very surprised to not see Ireland on their list of favourite destinations, and frankly, a little hurt.
