Brilliant!

About a month ago, a Carpool Karaoke with a difference captured the hearts of people all over the world.

Ted McDermott was diagnosed with dementia which greatly affected he and his family.

The 80-year-old was a Butlins Redcoat for years and got given the nickname “Songaminute Man” because of how many songs he knew.

His son Simon said that when he sang it was like they had him ‘back in the room’ and so, he decided to record a series of songs in the car to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s society.

The story went viral and became so popular that Ted is releasing his very own single.

It was when a Decca Records A&R executive was visiting the JustGiving site to donate money to another cause that he heard Teddy’s impressive voice, and immediately approached him to set up a recording session.

“In the studio, Teddy was visibly connected to his lifelong passion and able to momentarily leave his dementia at the door. A natural-born entertainer, his recording was flawless.” Decca Records said

Royalties from the release of this single will go to the Alzheimer’s Society and the McDermott family.

His son Simon said: “This is a dream come true not only for Dad, but for the entire family. There have been some really tough days in the last few years – especially for mum. We threw an 80th birthday party last month and thought that would be his last time singing solo for people, so it’s amazing to think he now has a single coming out! And it’s great to help the Alzheimer’s Society who provide so much help and support to other families going through the same things as us”

Ted’s single, You Make Me Feel So Young, will be released on September 23rd and you can pre-order it here.

Their Justgiving target was initially £1000 and they have exceeded their target by miles and have to date raised £116,000.
