A simple vinegar test has cut the cervical cancer death rate by one-third. The test was conducted on a population of over 150,000 women in the slums of India.

The test involved swabbing the cervix with diluted vinegar, according to the Irish Independent. This results in the cells briefly changing colour.

The study found that the low-cost test cut the cervical cancer death rate by 31%. The test was administered by local people with just two weeks of training.

Doctors revealed the results at a cancer conference in Chicago, where the findings were considered amazing.

The study could result in tens of thousands of lives being saved and is being considered as a very exciting result.
