Some things are better left in the past.
The ’80s brought us lots of amazing things, Cabbage Patch Kids , the first Apple computer, and of course lots of amazing music from the likes of Madonna, Prince, Bananarama, Bonnie Tyler, the list goes on and on.
This year Electric Ireland will be helping Electric Picnic festival goers relive the amazing music from the ’80s, ’90s and ’00s with their #ThrowbackParty. They are giving away 30 weekend tickets through Facebook live every day from Monday 22- Friday the 26th August to make sure you don’t miss out on all the throwback tunes.
Unfortunately not everything from the ’80s was as good as the music. The decade also brought us some unfortunate hair styles as well.
Here is our list of the 80’s hair styles that should definitively not make a comeback. How many did you have?
1. Crimped Hair
This was HUGE! Everyone who was anyone had crimped hair back in the ’80s. Whether you braided it the night before or were actually fancy enough to have a crimper (la de da!) we all attempted this hair style. These days I would rather wear a brown paper bag over my head than leave the house with all those kinks.
2. Side ponytails
Hurray for the peppiest hairstyle possible. The side ponytail was a stable hair do for many ’80s girls. Like most things in the ’80s the bigger your side ponytail was the better. We don’t know how we didn’t hurt our necks with all that extra weight on one side.
3. Poodle perms
Go on, admit it, every ’80s girl tried a perm at least once. Despite the fact it basically took a whole day to get done we still craved those massive bouncy girls.

4. Big bows
The bigger the better. Bows were massive in the ’80s when everyone from Madonna to Whitney Houston was wearing them. I think for now though this is an accessory better left in the past unless you want to look like Minnie Mouse.
5. The mullet
The ultimate ’80s hairstyle. Is there anything worse than a mullet ? We really don’t think so. While the whole ‘Business in the front, party in the back’ look might have been hot as hell in the ’80s, today you’re more likely to look like an extra from the Dukes of Hazzard.
