An old Battersby is set to return...

We can smell trouble brewing already.

The land of soaps hold some seriously treacherous paths – if it’s not a scandal in Albert Square then it’s a tragedy on Coronation Street – and we can only count our blessings that our lives are not as doom-filled as the characters of our favourite soaps.

It’s more than fair to say that the cobbles on Manchester’s most famous street are never far from drama and following the tragic death of Kylie Platt it doesn’t look like things are slowing down on Coronation Street anytime soon.

After news broke that the soap would be producing a sixth show per week, the crew have reportedly decided to welcome back three characters gone by – the roles of Toyah Battersby, Brian Packham and Daniel Osbourne.

According to The Sun, Toyah Battersby will return before Autumn 2017, having left the show in 2003.

Fans will remember her as troublesome sister to Leanne Battersby and girlfriend to Spider Nugent. Considering Leanne’s recent discovery that she’s pregnant, it makes sense that her sister may return to potentially help her out.

Brian Packham, headmaster of Bessie Street School and ex-boyfriend to Julie Carp, is set to return to the cobbles also.

Last but certainly not least, Ken Barlow’s son Daniel Osbourne is said to return to the street with the producers of the show looking for a new actor to play his estranged son.

A Coronation Street source confirmed the news of the three new faces returning, confirming that there may be more trouble for the residents of the street ahead: “The cast has to expand to take on more storylines so these three are back. “They’ve had good storylines before and will definitely stir up some trouble.”

We’ll have to sit tight and keep watching then.
