Ah, an Irish summer.
You can almost predict it: blistering sun for the duration of the Leaving Cert, rain and clouds for July and most of August but as soon as it’s back to school time, the good weather appears again.
This has proved true for the majority of summer 2016 but the good news, things are set to look up for the rest of this week.
Although today has been cloudy so far, it’s set to pick up for the rest of the day with sunny spells later on this evening.
Overnight, Met Éireann predicts that it will be “mainly dry with clear spells” with isolated showers in some “Atlantic coastal counties”.
Tomorrow is more of the same, sunny, but there could be scattered showers in places with temperatures expected to reach between 14 and 18 degrees.
It’s pretty much the same for Wednesday although Thursday could be cooler with some rain on the west coast. Those in the east, however, can look forward to “mainly dry weather”.
Temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday are likely to be cool for this time of year, probably around 15 to 17 degreees.
However, they’re set to rise to the TWENTIES on Friday (just in time for the weekend), and although it should be sunny, the increase in humidity means showers are likely too.

Early indications for the weekend (which feels like years away) suggest that we’re going to see “warm and mainly dry weather”.
So, fingers crossed, we might see a return to summer weather by the end of the week.
Of course, there’s no guarantee how long it will last so we’ll just have to make the most of it.
