With the Fast & Furious 6 out on May 17th, this got us thinking about our favourite movie cars and boy, are there some gems. From that Dodge Charger to the Batmobile, movie cars have become almost as iconic as the heroes that drive them. Here are twelve of our favourite rides…
1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California
Besides the fact that it met an untimely and dreadful demise, this is one of the most beautiful movie cars going… Apparently the car used in the film was just a replica. Thankfully.
2. James Bond – 1963 Aston Martin
This was a difficult decision. Although the 1963 Aston Martin is the standard Bond car, we had to include the Lotus Esprit. It became a submarine!
3. Knight Rider – 1982 Pontiac Trans Am
Ok, this car talked. It talked lots. Affectionately known as KITT. A talking car and David Hasselhoff? Winning.
4. The Fast and the Furious – 1970 Dodge Charger
So formidable, that Vin Diesel himself was scared to drive it in the first film.
5. Back to the Future – 1981 DeLorean DMC-12
If a car can travel back in time, it will make our favourite cars list. But the DeLorean does it in style…
6. Christine – 1958 Plymouth Fury
Carpenter apparently destroyed tonnes of the car to produce the film about the possessed Christine. Out of the 20 cars used in the film, only 2 survive.
7. Batman Begins – Batmobile
It’s the Batmobile. It needs no further introduction.
8. Cars – Lightening McQueen
The tale of the hot-shot racer with a heart not only appealed to those who love cars…
9. Gran Torino – Ford Gran Torino
We reckon it would be worth trying to steal this car. Either way, it’s win win, we could hang out with Clint Eastwood or we could own this beauty.

10. Ghostbusters – 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor
Who you gonna call? Some ghostbusters in an old ambulance, evidently.
11. The Italian Job – 1968 Austin MK Mini Cooper S
The Italian Job literally made the mini a legend…
12. Little Miss Sunshine – 1973 Volkswagen Transporter
Not only is a family outing hard work with this gem, no one gets left behind. The original hippy van.
