Philippa Gregory has a wonderful method of writing, her works are firmly grounded in fact but she turns those facts into amazing works of fiction. Arguably the greatest series of books she has written is those based on the War of the Roses concerning the infamous Cousin’s War.
The first part of the series was the wonderful The White Queen, which is the subject of a new series released this summer by BBC.
The White Queen tells the story of Elizabeth Woodville, a commoner who assumed the throne of Queen of England along with her husband Edward.
Edward and Elizabeth fought incessantly to keep the throne with many difficulties along the way, Elizabeth was even accused of being a witch. The character is played by Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson.
