Typical.
Just when you’ve perfected your best brows, along comes a whopper of a spot to ruin your look.
Blemishes in the brow area can be linked back to a number of causes but there is one particular factor that we hadn’t thought about before.
Apart from the obvious culprits (tweezing obviously), eyebrow spots can be brought on by certain ingredients including silicones and petroleum.
Dr. Jessica Weiser, who works at the New York Dermatology Group, spoke to Byrdie about the pain in the a** beauty bugbear.
“Breakouts on the brow line can be the result of multiple factors.
“Mostly, they’re caused by tweezing, waxing, and threading—but products like brow gel could definitely be the culprit. Gels have occlusive properties that clog and block pores, leading to blackheads and inflamed breakouts” explained the skin expert.
Dr. Weiser explained that gels are often the worst type of brow product for bringing on break-outs and she often advises her clients to try pencil or powder-based formulas instead.
If you’re prone to flyaway brow hairs and find that gel is the only thing that works, the dermatologist recommends trying a tester of the product before applying to your entire brow.
This should help you figure out if it’s a suitable product for you or if you’re going to rue the day you forked out for something that causes break-outs.
