Two men reportedly arrested after Gardaí stopped car containing suspected explosives

A car was stopped by Gardaí this evening amid reports that suspected explosives were found in the vehicle.

According to UTV Ireland, two men were arrested at the Long Mile Road junction on the Naas Road at approximately 7:30 pm this evening.

The men, believed to be in their 30s and 40s, are currently being held at Ronanstown and Ballyfermot Garda Stations.

The vehicle was stopped by members of the Emergency Response Unit and the bomb squad was immediately called to the scene.

The road is closed in both directions and motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes.
