Although they starred together in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Bette Davis and Joan Crawford’s feud went back decades.
The real reason for the hatred is still debated on but many claim it was because Crawford had stolen a love interest of Bette’s, although Bette herself would claim it was because Joan was a movie star and not an actress like her.
On the set of Baby Jane, Crawford apparently wore tins in her dressing gown so whenever Davis lifted her, she would injure her back. Davis apparently genuinely punched Crawford in one of the scenes also.
