Irish Cancer Society Pleads For Online Donations As Weather Affects Daffodil Day

Due to the dreadful weather, donations for Daffodil Day were down by about 50%

Following a day of extreme weather conditions, the Irish Cancer Society have pleaded with the public to make some donations online. Proceeds from one of the main fundraising events for the society were down 50% this year.

Volunteers for the society braved the horrible rain and cold yesterday to raise important funds, but unfortunately were not able to reach their targets. Many of those who volunteered were forced indoors eventually due to the torrential rain, according to the Irish Examiner.

Head of Fundraising for the event Mark Mellett commented: “”At this stage, we think we could be down as much as 50%, so the weather has had a big impact.”

The society is asking those who wish to make donations to log on to the Irish Cancer Society website at www.cancer.ie.

Please log on and help, especially considering those poor volunteers who stood out in that weather yesterday!
