A ‘Remembrance Wall’ in memory of the people who lost their lives during the 1916 Rising was unveiled at Glasnevin Cemetery this morning.
The names of the civilians who were killed during the Rising are listed in addition to the names of those who were members of the Irish and British army.

The decision to include the British names has caused some controversy with a number of people protesting outside the ceremony this morning.

According to The Irish Times, two people were arrested after a scuffle broke out between the protestors and Gardaí from the Public Order Unit.
Bangers were heard and there was an attempt to burn a Union Jack flag but overall the disturbance was ‘minor’ with the number of protestors lower than expected.
