By the sound of it MGM are keen to follow up quickly on the success of Skyfall as the studio has revealed work has already begun on the next James Bond film.

According to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber the screenplay for the next instalment is underway and they are hoping to announce a director soon.

The cast of the latest Bond film including director Sam Mendes (third from right).

He said: “We are very excited about the franchise… We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director.”

Despite the overwhelming success of Skyfall, which became the most successful Bond film of all time and the biggest film of 2012, Sam Mendes said that he would not be directing the next one.

Daniel Craig will be back as the spy for the next two films at least.

And that’s not all as Barber also said they are hoping to have Daniel Craig, who is signed up for at least the next two films, back as Bond on the big screen within three years.

Now if that image doesn’t put a smile on your face, we don’t know what will!
