Elderly Man Who Beheaded Wife Blocked Toilet Trying to Flush Away Her Remains

Cassie Delaney

An elderly man who viciously beheaded his wife has said he was “out of his mind” when the incident occurred.

The Mirror reports 69-year-old Dempsey Nibbs took a blade to his wife’s head believing he needed to chop it off because it was a snake.

Nibbs attacked 60-year-old wife Judith after she apparently boasted of sex with other men and flashed her breasts on skype, a court heard today.

The couple lived together in a flat in North London.

After Nibbs severed his wife’s head, he smashed it into pieces and tried to flush the remains down the toilet, blocking the drains.

Nibbs called the police and was arrested as he stabbed himself repeatedly.

Ms. Nibbs’ body was lying in the hallway with a covering over her body.

Nibbs admitted to the killing of his wife and despite originally claiming the attack was self-defense, he later claimed he believed his wife was a snake.

Jurors were shown the weapons used in Ms. Nibbs’ killing at trial.

DC Mark Regan was called to give evidence at the trial and said that when he arrived on April 11th, he noticed the toilet would not flush.

Drainage expert Desmond Thackery was called to inspect.

Mr Thackery came into the flat examined the toilet itself and as a result of that removed the toilet from the wall,” prosecutor Crispin Aylett explained.

“A number of body parts and in particular pieces of skull were retrieved from the lavatory and brain matter and other body tissue from the head.”

It is alleged that Ms. Nibbs had taunted Mr. Nibbs about her infidelity.

The court heard Nibbs intended to kill himself after killing Ms. Nibbs and had written a suicide note to his son.

The trial continues.
