Getting To The Crunch: Keeping Your Computer-Tired Eyes In Tip Top Condition

The simple 20-20-20-20 strategy can keep your eyes healthy and bright.

Rebecca McKnight

The modern day workplace is drastically different even to ten or twenty years ago. Most of us spend endless hours on the computer, with not a second thought on how it may be affecting our health.

Your eyes are as important as any other organ in your body and that’s why today we’re getting to the crunch, in association with Special K Cracker Crisps, on keeping your eyes in tip top condition.

Researchers at the Southwestern Medical Centre at the University of Texas have come up with a simple exercise they claim could stop computer users getting eye strain.

Introducing the 20-20-20-20 strategy. They say blinking 20 times in a row every 20 minutes should be combined with looking away from the screen for 20 seconds and focusing on an object 20 feet away.

The strategy has been designed as a solution to computer vision syndrome which affects millions of workers and game console addicts.

Symptoms such as dry and tired eyes, headaches and sore necks are usually only temporary but can become a serious daily problem if not fixed.

Your regular bout of blinking might look odd but it can make a positive difference in the long term.

Eye drops taken before work begins can help with dry eyes but the best thing to help with other elements of CVS is a break from a screen.

Getting To The Crunch is brought to you in association with Special K Cracker Crisps.

Special K Cracker Crisps come in 3 flavours – Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar, Sour Cream and Onion and Sweet Chilli. Delivering 21 crisps for less than 95 calories, you can enjoy all of the taste with none of the worry! Crisps that love you back…
