For any fans of the childhood classics starring Peter Rabbit, you’re about to fall in love with the furry friend all over again.
Beatrix Potter’s beloved rabbit friend, donning his little blue jacket, is set to become the first literary character to appear on the 50p British sterling coin.
According to Sky News, the coin will mark the 150th anniversary of the author’s birth in 1866.

Three more characters will appear on coins, with a limited release planned as part of a four-piece collector’s set.
Created by Royal Mint designer Emma Noble, the artist spoke about her inspiration for the design:
“I wanted to put Beatrix Potter’s illustrations to the forefront of my design as they are lovely images and the characters are very well known.
“I felt they were strong enough to stand alone and I designed them in this way as I thought they would work best for both the coloured commemorative and uncoloured circulating coins.”
The Tale Of Peter Rabbit – the first book in the series – was originally published in 1902, by publisher Frederick Warne & Co.
Five more books featuring the favoured furry-friend were released on the back of the first book’s success.
