Fans of The Good Wife are set to say goodbye to one of their favourite shows – with CBS confirming the end of the seven-season run on the station this May.
Show creators confirmed the news with a surprise promotional spot during the Super Bowl.
Rumours of the drama coming to an end started when the creators Robert and Michelle King confirmed they would be leaving once production of the current cycle wrapped up.
The drama, which is fronted by Julianna Margulies, will conclude at the end of the current series on May 8th.
In a statement confirming the news, the Kings issued a joint statement saying that the show was “the creative experience of a lifetime.
“We’re looking forward to using this seventh season to bring Alicia’s story to its natural conclusion. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful.”
Margulies added her own thanks to the creators and to fans, adding that is has “been an absolute honour to be a part of a series that, throughout seven years, never settled on being just good — but always strived to be extraordinary.
“I have witnessed magic happen when Robert and Michelle King put pen to paper, and it has been a privilege to be in the company of their brilliance.”
