In a sea of couture creations hot off the catwalks, high street hero H&M is the last thing you expect to hear on a Hollywood starlet’s lips as she’s asked the all important ‘who are you wearing’ on the Oscars red carpet.
But for eco activist Helen Hunt, donning a midnight blue gown from their Conscious collection, the budget retailer was the obvious choice.

The Conscious collection is the fashion chains eco-friendly line that aims to make clothes in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
Although, the dress was hardly budget conscious.
The Oscar winning actress had it embellished with $700,000 worth of diamonds, meaning it probably cost more than any of the other dresses on the red carpet.

And, this isn’t the first time H&M have made it onto the red carpet.
Fashion maverick Michelle Williams wore a monochrome creation by the Swedish retail giant to the BAFTA Awards last year and Amanda Seyfried opted for a vibrant turquoise tux for the UK premier of her film In Time in October 2011.

While we applaud Helen’s brave and bold fashion statement, we can’t help but wonder if the actress was trying to conserve electricity but not steaming or ironing the dress before the ceremony…
