Ireland’s first official ‘otter crossing’ sign has been spotted in Co. Kildare.
Kildare County Council erected the otter sign on the Kilcock to Maynooth Road. Kildare.ie reports that it was needed to warn passing vehicles that an otter might cross their path between the Rye River and the Royal Canal in search of food.
They’ve said, “The signs were put up following requests from the public and under advice from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.”
Councillor Damien O’Reilly shared this picture of the proud sign.
