Less time and money but more to do and more bills to pay?

It’s a familiar story and one that many of us are facing every day. If you’re one of those people and you’d like to get 2013 off to a more efficient start, then we just might be able to help.

We’ll be bringing you weekly tips on how to make the time and money you have work best for you. You’ll be earning the Ms. Efficient title in no time!

___________

Find Shortcuts In Your Daily Life

If you have a lot of work to get done in one day and your time is limited, try to find the quickest way to get you to your end goal.

Finding shortcuts isn’t about “cheating” or “brushing over the final details.” It’s simply about becoming more productive and efficient.

Start by writing yourself a to-do list. Once you have that done, go through each item on your list and ask the question: is there a quicker way to get this done?

By skipping a few steps in the process, you can effectively shrink the time it takes you to accomplish something. For example: writing a thank-you note or a proposal for something? Simply use a previously accepted proposal or a thank-you note as a loose template and build your new report/note around that rather than starting from scratch.

Avoid Burning Yourself Out

The same traits that help you to succeed in your professional life can also cause you to get stressed and burned out. When you’re feeling a bit frazzled in relation to your life, the best thing you can do is to deal with your feelings immediately rather than ignoring them until they get serious.

Rework your daily schedule so you have at least one free evening every week where you can sit down, relax and enjoy some solid, uninterrupted downtime.

Or, make the effort to get in at least half an hour of exercise every single day. Exercise automatically boost our mood and lowers our stress levels. This means that we’re better able to cope when the pressure is on us in work or when we’re stressed out by something else in our lives.

Be kind to yourself and learn to recognise when you need a breather or a break.

Take Time To Think

Once of the best things that you can do for your productivity and your mental state is to set aside fifteen minutes every single day to just think.

You can use these fifteen minutes to ponder the meaning of life, think about the things that you need to get done or simply enjoy a nice little daydream.

Scheduling time to think means that you’ll lower your stress levels, possibly find some inspiration with regards to a difficult project at work and, overall, come back after your mini-mind-break more refreshed and ready to finish out your day on a high.
