Christmas is traditionally a time for soap storylines to become even more complicated than usual and this year isn’t any different.
If you missed the Eastenders Christmas Day special, here’s what happened and things continued in a similarly dramatic fashion last night.
Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter on the soap, joined in with the masses, taking to Twitter to air their views on this year’s festive soap offering.
He wrote: “Eastenders, a place where we manage to make the depressing sublime. Roll on New Year”.

One viewer wasn’t impressed with proceedings and took to Twitter to make his feelings clear, writing: “EastEnders is a load of old bo**ocks I want to shoot myself in the head every time my missus puts it on….just saying”.

In case you were wondering, boat here is short for boat race, a Cockney rhyming slang for face.
