Christmas can be an incredibly challenging time financially for families.
Between food, electricity bills and presents, the cost of Santa when there’s more than one child can mean parents face some tough choices and pressures over the coming weeks.
So we were pretty impressed by an email we received from a young Dublin man today.
Stephen Bent got in touch with us this evening to reach out to any parents that may be in need of a Christmas miracle.
The 30-year old from Portmarnock wrote:
“This year for Christmas, as a present from Santa, I got him to frame my Real Madrid top.
This is signed by current “World Player of the Year” Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Coentrão.
I am donating this to a parent that may be struggling this year for gifts, or a child that may be spending Christmas in hospital this year.”
Posting the message to his Facebook page, Stephen is aware that the gift comes in at roughly €700-800 online, and wants to make sure it gets to the right person in need of this extremely kind gesture.
While Stephen says people can reach him on his Facebook page, he is also accepting requests for the item to his email address: (stephenbent26@me.com)
He will then pick someone from the list, in the hope of spreading some goodwill and hope this Christmas.
Speaking about his extraordinary gift, Stephen insists he doesn’t want any praise for the gift, and just hopes “to give back to someone that doesn’t have much or is in need of some positivity in their life.”
“If anything I’m hoping others my follow suit and donate more stuff if they see this
Maybe some lone mother may have a son with very little this year.”
We’ve no doubt one family will really benefit from such a kind gift this festive season.
This is what Christmas is really about.
